Złota 44

Złota 44 is a building in Warsaw desinged by Daniel Libeskind. Its the highest residential building in Europe, it has 287 apartments and 30 luxury units like swimming pool, sauna and gym. It was opened in 2013 after 5 years of working.

He says that architecture has to communicate a story. Architecture is in the story of the city, in the story of what the city is, there is also a story of the spirit of the city, you can see that story in the way how the building shapes. Zlota 44 building is more than a big box it is a sculpture, it changes the
skyline of the Warsaw.

‘The Polish people don't give up. And it inspired me to build this building here.'
Shape of this building is not simply. For me this building means that Warsaw revives, because when we compare Palace of Culture and Science and Zlota 44 we can see this advance and power. In our city aren’t only old blocks of flats and communistic buildings there are also the most modern skyscrapers.

    How exactly does this building communicate the story of Polish resilience? It sounds good but devil is in the details so next time please explain the poetry behind the building.

Life Electric is a monument created by Studio Libeskind in collaboration with the business association of Como. Its a 16,5 meter high sculpture on the Lake Como in Italy. This is a public monument, homeage to famed scientist Aleksander Volta who hails from the city. He was born on 18th February, 1745, in Como, and died 5th March, 1827, Como. He was an Italian physicist, chemist and a pioneer of electricity and power. He invented a electrical battery and discovered methane. It’s made from stainless steel, polished to a mirror to reflect landscape around this is why this sculpture combines the natural elements of light, water.  Shape of this monument is very interesting and resembles two waves.  The form reaches both up towards the sky and goes down to the water, representing the two poles of energy.  “It is an amazing honor to be able to give this work a home in one of the most beautiful places in the world—and a place very close to my heart,” said Daniel Libeskind.

Eco or money?

I was looking for a new water bottle and I found  some interesting accounts on Instagram. I checked their online shops and I was shocked, because there were bottles for about 100$. It’s so expensive. I know that being eco a kind of trend and this is very needed but it’s too much. Are we want to save the planet or make money? I think that more people will buy there things if they were cheaper. Also if people could buy these things they willsee that they can change their lives and habits for better. When I saw this prize a felt opposite and I get angry, that’s not the point.
